A European Adventure

This past month I was fortunate enough to tag along on the family vacation to visit my sister, who is having the time of her life studying abroad. We figured it wasn't fair for her to experience all of the fun, so we hopped on a plane and spent almost two weeks in Budapest, Prague and Vienna. Being the foodie that I consider myself to be, this was a dream for me. 3 countries with different taste palettes, and all on my parents dime (Literally a dream come true). The entries below were some of my favorites, and I apologize for such a long post - but there was SOO much to eat.

City 1: BUDAPEST

MAZEL TOV - A delicious restaurant located in the Jewish Quarter, and appropriately named. The best decorations, live music, amazing food, and our first place we ate at on our trip! Did not disappoint. We managed to scarf down a couple hummus plates, and a few grill plates filled with Shawarma, beef and duck. Check out their menu!

Right near the top of the Funicular, was a cute place (whose name i now forget) that had the best chicken Paprika I think i hate the whole trip. We ordered a paprika pancake, see two photos below, which was super delicious, and i ordered the chicken paprika with pasta. It was a pull apart chicken, with SO much flavor!

Gundells - With no exaggeration, this was, and probably will remain my absolute favorite meal EVER. Like 24 years, ever. The service of the entire wait staff was so excellent, bringing out all of the food and the same time and so much knowledge and culture about traditional food. There was photos hanging everyone of people that had managed to visit, and we got lucky with a relatively slow night and live music.

The meal consisted of soups, fish, meat and dessert, and I am including them all here because they are all equally beautiful!

City 2: Prague

Even though Budapest was known for its Chimney Cakes, i think we ate them in every city we could. Prague and Budapest both fill their cakes with nutella, and i was in dessert heaven. I also tried Pork Knuckle, which was quite an experience, just in the plate. I am not sure i would eat it again, but i am happy i was able to try it!

City 3: Wien (Vienna)

Neni am Naschmarkt: When we got to Vienna, one of Keri's favorite restaurants was on our top hit list. The restaurant is located in a huge outdoor market, and was seriously amazing. We started with a traditional hummus and also an eggplant hummus. My mom ordered the Jerusalem Plate and Keri and I ordered the Yaffo Plate. The Yaffo plate took first place, and I also learned what Frikkeh was (grain like rice).

DO & CO : Is a hotel, located in the city center, and hosts a beautiful restaurant on the top floor, with amazing views. We started with delicious cocktails and a Burrata appetizer. I have recently been having trouble with dairy, but decided to throw in the towel for a yummy last meal. We also had sushi platters, because of course we had to have sushi while we were in Europe. Overall, a very yummy and nice last meal.
