ROAR Like a Lion

Whether you roar like a lion or howl like a lion cub, you are guaranteed an A+ experience at the Little Lion Cafe. Located on Sunset Cliffs in Ocean Beach, Little Lion provides a quaint french experience located next to the southern California beaches. The small restaurant packs in the flavor as much as it packs in the people. It is a small, very cute restaurant with a few outdoor seats and a selection of tables and window seating inside. If it is a nice day out, I would highly recommend sitting outside, as it gets a bit toasty on the inside.

SuperFood Bowl

The sister co-owners of the restaurant are extremely friendly, and really want to make sure you have the best experience possible. The food is extremely fresh, the recipes are simple yet complex with flavors, and you really can't beat the location.

For Brunch, the menu features a large selection of dishes. Between the three of us that went, we got the following:

Classic Cobb Salad

Superfood Bowl with Chicken

Eggs Benedict

Side of Bacon

Extra side of potatoes

Lets break these down, starting with the classic cobb. The salad is a perfect size topped with tomatoes, avocado, egg and chicken. The Champagne Vinaigrette really does a great job tying everything together (over a more creamy dressing). Ordered with a side of the most delicious potatoes ever, this was a perfect size meal.

COBB Salad

The Superfood Bowl seems to be a fan favorite at the cafe. Packed with Quinoa, black beans, avocado, veggies, flax seed and your choice of a poached egg or chicken, this dish promises salivation. A healthy breakfast, very tasty, and very filling, can't really complain about that.

Eggs Benedict

The Eggs Benedict, one of my favorite dishes ever, was to die for. The chef behind the scenes seriously knows how to Poach an egg, and that makes all of the difference. The sandwich is filled with Ham and hollandaise sauce on top of a sourdough batard. The sandwich comes with potatoes, that are lightly salted with an aoili sauce/tomato compote and a little bit crispy, and quite possibly some of my favorite breakfast potatoes I have ever had. I also ordered a side of Bacon, because who can pass up Bacon with breakfast, and it did not disappoint. Although I was stuffed to my brim, it was worth every bite I took.

The foundation of the restaurant is "Food is love, love is family" and I truly felt like we were treated like family while we were there, truly a special thing when eating out.

Little Lion is now serving dinner, and also offers gluten free and vegan options if you ask! Next stop, Dinner!
