This past week was filled with travel, exhaustion and LOTS of food. There is nothing quite better than finding the most delicious places to eat while on vacation, but there is nothing worse than craving them when you get home!
This weeks blog post is going to be a bit different. Since it would take me forever and a day to post about each restaurant I visited, I am going to highlight my favorites from the trip. Taking you on a bit of a food adventure with me, and tell you about why I loved the places I ate at. Hope you enjoy!
Old Ebbitt Grill

Our trip started in Washington D.C. our nations capital. Although we landed at 2 am due to weather delays, I was ecstatic to see the District of Columbia and what it had to offer. The first stop on our "food tour" was Old Ebbitt Grill, located right across the street from the White House. Old Ebbitt is filled with History, and has been a tradition in D.C since 1856. You walk in and immediately smell history, see history and can physically feel history. The grill is considered an Oyster Bar, and the oysters were to die for. We ordered 24 oysters during happy hour, and I could have ordered more, absolutely amazing and so fresh. For my meal, I had the Dry Aged Ribeye Steak (pictured below). The steak has an amazing rub, however the chipoltle sauce brought the dish to a 360. Everything worked so well, and the steak melted in your mouth with every bite.
Tony and Joe's Seafood Place
Next stop on our food adventure was Tony and Joe's Seafood Place, located on the waterfront in Georgetown. Quite possibly one of my favorite restaurants during our time in D.C., the view and the delicious food did me in good. We started the night with the Chilled Seafood Platter; which came with a mix of lobster, oyster, and lump crab. For dinner, we shared the Chesapeake Steam Pot, a pot with a million flavors made to make your taste buds dance. The pot included Shrimp, Mussels, Claims, Sweet Corn, Tomato, Red Potato, Andouille Sausage and old bay broth. For anyone who is eating Gluten Free due to an allergy or celiacs, this dish just so happened to be Gluten Free!

Hank's Oyster Bar

Last amazing meal in D.C. was at Hank's Oyster Bar. I have to say, it was some of the best Oyster's i had the whole trip. They had multiple different specials, from all different places and all tasted different but unbelievably fresh. The service was great, the food was amazing and they were really accommodating to all of our needs. I forgot to take a picture of our 2 platters of Oyster's, however I did manage to snap a picture of my amazing lobster roll. Lobster rolls are tricky to me, because although I like mayo, I do not like it in bulk. This lobster roll, did it all right. The right amount of toast on the bread, the right amount of lobster to mayo, and the right amount of happiness in my belly. The dish came with fries, however I did half french fries and half coleslaw (because i love coleslaw). As a table we also ordered the Ribs, the Shrimp Cocktail Peel and Eat, and the Lobster Bisque; all which I have no complaints about (and yes I tried it all).
The Egg Shop
Now entering the Big Apple, first stop BRUNCH. Minutes away from our hotel in SOHO was the Egg Shop. It had been recommended to me by numerous people, so I wanted to give it a try. We started with the Watermelon Mimosas (because it was my birthday) and was not disappointed. The juice was so fresh, I could have had 5 more. I ordered one of their specialty bowls, where they take a traditional breakfast dish and turn it into a breakfast bowl. Kind of my favorite thing in the entire world, because i do this with everything anyway. I went the El Camino, a bowl that included a poached egg, avocado, pulled pork carnitas, tomato and fried tortilla strips. I also got a side of hash browns, which reminded me of Potato pancakes for all you Jews out there! 10 out of 10 for space, and 10 out of 10 for presentation.

Shmorgasburg
If you have ever been to Brooklyn, New York you should know that what set's them apart from the city is their originality. I absolutely love Brooklyn and Williamsburg for this reason, and finding new and hip places to eat is never a problem. We happen to be there on a weekend, in which they host the Shmorgasburg in Williamsburg. Every Saturday, a bunch of vendors set up shop right alongside the water, with a view that is unbeatable by any restaurant. The view of the sitting, with tons of benches and outdoor seating, was just what we wanted on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, not mention the amount of food vendors there was almost overwhelming!
I started off with a taco from GOA taco. Now, I don't want to exaggerate, but this may have been one of the BEST taco's I have ever eaten, I am not even kidding. The "taco" part of the taco, is paratha flatbread, which comes from India. It is a combination of a tortilla and croissant, and guaranteed to make your mouth water. I ordered the Pork Belly Taco - slow roasted pork belly, pickled red cabbage and chipoltle mayo. Simple, easy and absolutely amazing. My friend proceeded to order a Ramen Burger, and even without cheese, the burger was amazing. A mix of a Ramen Noodle Bun and meat, somehow it works! If you have time, and the patience to maneuver through the crowds, I would HIGHLY recommend checking this place out.
