June 3, 2016 has been declared National Doughnut Day. It actually falls on the first Friday of June every year, and was created by the Salvation Army in Chicago after they gave out doughnuts to honor those who served during World War I.
In Chicago, National Doughnut Day is still a fundraiser for the Salvation Army, however the rest of the world celebrates by eating and enjoying delicious doughnuts from their favorite doughnut shop.
The picture below is doughnuts from the street of Madrid, Spain. Quite possibly one of the most beautiful displays of street doughnuts I have seen, and the chocolate doughnuts were larger than my head!
HINT: For free doughnuts, head to your local Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Doughnuts!
